When most people think about change, they think about doing more.
More strategies.
More information.
More pushing.
But the real work of transformation doesn’t start with adding.
It starts with seeing.
- Awareness – The Patterns That Hold Us Back
There is a moment in every leader’s life where they realise:
“It’s not the world that’s holding me back. It’s my patterns.”
Patterns of overthinking.
Patterns of people-pleasing.
Patterns of shrinking just a little, every time they walk into a room.
We repeat the same conversations in our heads.
We play out the same roles in our organisations.
We tell ourselves the same quiet stories about who we are allowed to be.
Awareness is the moment the light comes on.
It’s when you notice:
- “I always apologise before I speak.”
- “I always say yes, even when my whole body is saying no.”
- “I always downplay my achievements so others feel comfortable.”
Awareness is not about blame.
It’s not about “fixing” yourself.
It’s about finally seeing the invisible script that has been directing your life.
As a coach, this is where I begin.
We slow down enough to see the pattern.
We name it.
We trace where it came from.
And we acknowledge, with honesty and compassion:
“This pattern kept me safe once.
But it is not serving who I am becoming.”
